Nobody needs another foodservice website

billdavebylinephotos.jpgEvery week we get notified about a new website, blog, calculator or other web gizmo that foodservice operators and/or DSRs are just going to love... according to whatever manufacturer is making said announcement.

Ho hum.  The last thing DSRs or operators need is a new destination or gadget to discover and conquer.  They don't visit existing websites much... let alone anxiously await for new ones to appear promoting some niche idea, program or product. 

Creating a "destination" is so 2003.  There are destinations galore hosted by trade pubs, portals, distributors, product data companies, communities and culinary schools.  Oh, and corporate websites themselves!

As one bright marketer once told us, "I'm not interested in building a new website that customers have to find... I want to be where the customers show up routinely."
